Irregular Choice Halloween AW21 – Launch Guide

This Irregular Choice spooky season is all about the velvet and fringe. The lenticular detail is seriously creepy but we also have light up eyes, a horror shop inspired plant and the return of a 2020 favourite and pumpkin heels!

This guide is written based upon the look book, I don’t get access to the actual shoes until the same time as you do so details may have changed in production. As always, i will do my best to correct any errors as soon as possible after the launch.

Ghost Waltz

Previewed in the teaser for the launch, these creepy as boots pretty much set the tone for the AW21 Halloween collection. The black textured fabric is framed with draping and a pretty bow on top of a sinister green undertone. The face, of course, changes with movement from a creepy ass woman to an even creepier skeleton. I’m such a wimp that I couldn’t be alone in the room with the scary woman. The gothic/period design is going to make for such amazing outfits though. The boot looks like a similar heel to Baroness but they have a brand new style code so they’re the first of their kind.

  • Heel Height – 9.5cm
  • Size – 36 to 43
  • Price – £145

Moonlit Manor

Love the creepy creepy lenticular face but need a lower heel? Moonlit Manor have all the same ghostly charm as Ghostly Waltz but with a Ban Joe height heel. They feature the same textured fabric with draping and whilst they have cobwebs on them they don’t appear to have the same mini plastic spiders that are on the boots and matching bag. The creepy portrait still changes with movement which means these are too scary for my house.

  • I needed to size down
  • Heel Height – 7.2cm
  • Size – 36 to 43
  • Price – £119

Haunted Hallway

I’ve just discovered that this hinged bag with the top handle and top claps is actually called a Doctor Style bag. It makes sense as I could totally see this bag belonging to a witch doctor in a 19th century travelling show. This bag has the same velvet and texture colours and detail of both Moonlit Manor and Ghost Waltz but I also think it would go really well with the light up Who’s There? boots below.

  • Size – 26 x 21 x 12.5 cm
  • Price – £125

Spooky Spectre

The final lenticular piece in this collection is a purse to match your shoes, boots and bag. The creepy portrait sits on top of a back velvet style purse with embroided cobwebs.

Pumpkin Patch

My only IC Halloween regret is that I didn’t buy Ghouls Best Friend a few years ago. I love the pumpkin heel but the shoe wasn’t quite right for me. I’m glad I waited because Pumpkin Patch is my perfect shoe. The cute little pumpkin heel but this time with a beautiful bat bow. I’m obsessed with this bow. There are three colourways of this shoe, a green glitter, a Haunted Mansion looking purple and an orange detail. The black appears to be an exclusive to Irregular Choice whilst the orange is only available from the independant stockists. I think it’s going to be hard to choose. Either will go with pretty much most of the Loungefly Halloween bags. The heel height places them slightly lower than a Ban Joe.

  • Heel Height – 6cm
  • Size – 36 to 43
  • Price – £135

Who’s There?

If Madame Leota showed us her shoes through her crystal ball, these are what she would be wearing. They are completely travelling mystic meets crazy witch but with ad added touch. The eyes on the boots light up. I love this detail along with the velvet curtain and fringe effect along with two different colours of glitter but I’m feeling that the ghost and skeleton hands might be a little too much. Also, spider alert again. The same basic boot as Major Tom, Ginger’s House, Pooch Perfect and Trees A Crowd.

  • True To Size
  • Heel Height – 8.6cm
  • Size – 36 to 43
  • Price – £179

Somebody’s Watching Me

That song is seriously stuck in my head now but these shoes are pretty epic, well except for one detail. Actually, at least eight details, four on each shoe. Spider alert!!! If you can get past the spiders then we basically have a Halloween Nick Of Time with more of the light up eyes. These are going to look so amazing all lit up at night.

  • Heel Height – 9.2cm
  • Size – 36 to 43
  • Price – £139

Goulish Garden

“Feed me, Seym…” We probably shouldn’t mention that right but these chunky heel trainer boots are plant-tastic. You probably do want to keep those sharp teeth fed and check out those scary eyes. I love the colours too, red, white, purple and greens, do not the typical Halloween colours but It completely works. We even have a bit of glitter squeezed in on the toes. It’s the same basic shoe as Down In Front so is most likely true to size.

  • Size – 36 to 41
  • Price – £179

Biting Blossom

Need a man eating plant bag to match your man eating plant shoes? Then look no further. The same colours and plant detail that adorn Goulish Garden are used on the corresponding bag with some pretty interesting side eye placement. The bag is the clever design that can be used as a backpack, top handle or crossbody. the same as Hip Hippo and Brunch Bunch.

  • Size – 26 x 15 x 33 cm
  • Price – £125

Bat To The Bone

Double Bat trouble on these Halloween flats, complete with a pink hair bow and black bow tie. The green bat fabric looks textured whilst the bat bodies appear to be slightly fluffy, giving a 3D effect. Just in case you didn’t get the bat love (I’m trying not to assign genders) then there’s a lot of love hearts thrown in. The shoe is the same design code as Rubus, Crain Bird and Til Death so they should be more comfy than the older flats design.

  • I had to size down
  • Size – 36 to 43
  • Price – £99

Snakey Gaze

If ever there was a Medusa shoe these would be it. We’ve had Snake Karma and Jellie Snake but these take the concept to a whole new level. Three snakes wind their way up each shoe, cleverly hiding the ankle strap, and they have my favourite perspex/lucite heel in a beautiful gold. The snake face over the toes is adorned with gems which are very pretty.

  • True To Size
  • Heel Height – 9.6cm
  • Size – 36 to 43
  • Price – £139

Spookster

Spooky trainers. Literally, they say spooky right across them in a variety of glitter and shiny purple, pink and silver colours against that beautiful orange check background. The bat below the laces is one of my favourite details of this collection and the creepy little eyes on the front are a nice added touch.

  • True To Size
  • Size – 36 to 43
  • Price – £119

On The Web

Back from the 2020 collection, these shoes were a firm favourite last year and are such a high impact shoe. They look amazing in every photo. I don’t own them because of the rather large spider on the front but if I could brave my fear these are the shoes I would get. The green and purple iridescent base of the shoe really stands out against that black web. These shoes are Ban Joe height again, making them a comfortable mid heel.

  1. Ghostly Waltz aren’t the first of their kind. The booties from the Red Riding Hood line are the same style, and have the same item number. Red Riding Hood are 4636-02a; Ghostly Waltz are 4636-01a.

    1. Technically, Red Riding Hood are second as they’re number 02. They just got released first. Thank you for your feedback
